Theft of Equipment All Owners, Club Mangers and Coaches,
Last Tuesday my car was broken into by some slimebucket. They stole our brand new Leon Paul Scoring System,5 Triplette club Lames, Triplete Scoring Machine, cables. Plus my personal spare FIE STM weapons, 2 Favio testing box and my competition lame.
This happened in a suburb of Chicago, I ahve filled out a police report. Since our sport is, unfortunatly, less than main stream there should be diffuculty unloading mine/our club equipment to the scummy pawn shops or retailers.
The Police office suggested I contact or post pleas to all to be on the lookout for womeon who wnat to sell fencing equipment when in truth they dont seem to have the slightest clue what they have.
If anyone is contacted or appraoched please contact me as soon as you can vi my email address -
Please excuse me if my writting tone is abrupt or less the respectful - I am livid and beyond PO'd cb-roth@comcast.net here2go@hotmail.com
thank you - -

Array Wow I am really sorry, that sucks.
Be sure to keep an eye out on places like Craigslist and Ebay. It may be a long shot but if they can't unload your gear to a pawn shop the internet is the next best place. -

Array Let's hope that they have a clue as to what they have stolen and WILL try E-Bay or Craigslist. Been There. Done That. Too Bad. -

I hope your stuff turns up. -

thank you - Last year someone stole the trailer we had donated to our club for the youth league and sure enough it was stolen loaded with all of the strips and several boxes that belonged to the youth league. The police told us that it would probably all be dumped. What is someone going to do with fencing strips? I hope you have better luck recovering your equipment. Array So sorry to hear. And my DH wonders why I insist on never leaving my fencing bag out in the car at night. -

Array No "scumbag thief" is going to haul all of that stuff when they can make a ten second appraisal and realize that its not something they can fence (HAHA) or turn quickly. Scumbag thieves are annoying, but they're generally not Forrest Gump retarded.
Scumbag thieves steal cell phones, ipods, DVD's, power tools, ect... small and portable things they can sell for a decent profit margin without too much of a hassle.
If it WAS a scumbag, they'll try and sell it at a flea market, or maybe ebay or craigslist.
But I doubt it was. If you ask me, this was soviet work.

Array Have club members keep an eye out in areas it's likely to be dumped. Even offer a small reward... post in near-by businesses in the area have dumpsters. With a little legwork stolen items can sometimes be recovered. Beer, it's whats for dinner! ~ a young snowboarding Canadian The meek don't want it! ~ sticker on a rock band's guitar -

Array Crap. This happened to me 20 years ago in Milwaukee. Bob Anderson and I went to Joe Biebel's club to fence, and afterward we all went to a local establishment which provided "adult beverages." When we went back to the car (an old Escort station wagon, IIRC) the back window was smashed, and all our gear was gone.
As Beloit's club president at the time, I went to the Res Life office to report the theft to the student activities director (for insurance purposes). She laughed as she asked me "what are they gonna do, fence it?" Since all my personal FIE gear, including Santelli uniform, Allstar lame and everything else was gone in addition to the club gear, I could not even laugh.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I would fill out an insurance claim, though. A few weeks after our incident, all of our gear was replaced. -
If the equipment was stolen out of a car/truck, the vehicle owners insurance may cover replacement. Their might be a deductable and the premiums might go up, but my understanding of insurance is that if you have a full auto insurance policy, anything inside the vehicle is covered against theft. Maybe aninsurance expert/lawyer can say more...?

Todd Usually (always, I think) auto insurance only covers items that are part of or are actually attached to the vehicle (stereos, etc). However, homeowner's and renter's insurance will often cover the contents. Been There. Done That. Too Bad. -
