NW Fencing Center Pre-Nationals Camp : June 23-29

Objective :

This camp's objective is to prepare athletes for the Summer National Championships. Emphasis will be on competitive bouting and tactical skills. Athletes will receive individual attention and will be placed in many competitive situations to improve their ability to understand their strengths and develop methods to improve their ability to succeed.

Coaches:

Michael Marx - Fencing Coach at Duke University and staff member of the USFA Coaches College. Five time Olympic team member and holder of a record eight U.S. national championships in foil. He has coached the 1997-2003 Junior, Cadet and Senior World Championship teams. His students have earned over 50 national titles, and competed on the last 4 Olympic teams in both epee and foil. He was the 2007 USOC Developmental Coach of the Year.

Mr. Marx earned his fencing master’s degree in Katowice Poland.

Sebastien Dos Santos - Member of the French national Modern Pentathlon team, four-time national champion and international gold medalist. Sebastien was the head coach for the 2004 French Women’s Modern Pentathlon Olympic team and the 2008 Brazilian Modern Pentathlon team.

Carlos Bruno - Carlos is a nationally-ranked men's epee competitor and coach. He has been fencing for over 14 years, and has been coaching for over 7 years.

Darius Wei - Darius was a coach at the University of Rochester for 5 years. He has nationally ranked students in both men’s and women’s foil.

Simon Abram - Fencing Master, ASPTT Aix en Provence, France.

Cost:

The camp fee is $100 per day, which includes camp, homestay (for campers under age 21), meals and NWFC-scheduled evening activities. If housing is not needed, the cost is $80 per weekday. Campers wishing to participate in the Oregon State Games tournament pay only $80 for the entire weekend, which includes tournament entry fee.

A nonrefundable $50 deposit is required to register; the balance of the camp fee is due on the camper's first day of camp.

Housing:

A limited amount of housing is available with NWFC families. Housing is provided on a first-come basis, based on date of receipt of registration form and deposit. No housing requests will be accepted after June 1, 2009. Home stay campers will be met at the airport or train station. Please schedule your arrival no later than 7:00pm.
