Favorite Fencing Venues

Let's talk about the ones that are great!
Two of my favorites were:

Columbus, Ohio for last years JO's. This was a very nice facility! Had a food court so the kids would be kept fed with a huge variety of foods, a coffee stand/cyber cafe in the lower lobby and the place was clean, open and airy. The juxtaposition of cheerleaders and fencers was quite interesting. (Not quite as interesting as the Extreme Right Wing ATI Convention of homeschoolers at the Summer Nationals in Sacramento.) <No charge for admission>

Sandy, Utah!!! Yes Sandy Utah. This was a great place. They had an antique show going next door, people were friendly, easy food access, reasonably priced hotels and very nice weather in October. Parking was also a breeze which is good if you have a car with you. <no charge for admission>

I've always liked Palm Springs. But Sandy wasn't bad, if remote.

Duel in the Desert is also high on my list---fencing and gambling without leaving your hotel....

My only complaint with Columbus was that only one of the food places had coke!!!!!!!!! But other than that it was great. Probaly my second favorite.

My favorite was reno. They had everything. Pool tables, indor golfing, 50 bowling lanes and a jonny rockets.

...but no strips!

Actually, the everything-in-the-casino thing gets old kinda quickly, and outside of the casino, Reno's a dump.

Of course, I would have been a lot happier if I could have stayed and skiied at Tahoe. Shame about that whole "job" thing.

There's nothing like starting at 7 p.m. and finishing the final bout at 1 a.m. and then your clubmates trying to get you to down a beer at the bar right after. Talk about an interesting experience!

I liked Reno because:
(a.) I hate crowds, and Reno was SUPER low key.
(b.) Driving around and seeing the mountains was so cool.
(c.) It was super-easy to get married! Approx. 30 minutes total.
(d.) Food at the venue was great...being a strict veg can sometimes be difficult, but it was relatively easy here.
(e.) I got to hang out with a 7-foot-tall bounty hunter who called ME "killer."

If they have another event here, I am definitely making plans to Tahoe.
