    Basic scoring question

    Hi Folks-
Here is a newbie question. Does the scoring machine light up to indicate the fencer who got the the hit, or the fencer who received the hit?

modern boxes, when you hook them up as you would expect, they light up to indicate the side who has scored the touch.

older boxes used to be the opposite.

so, if you're watching older video or you maybe have an older box, you should keep that in mind.

    Sometime in the late 90s....98-99???

All you had to do at the time was swap the floor cords, tho.

Going to your first tournament? Read "Choose yer weapon, Laddie (or: Dude, where's my foil?)"

That still hasn't changed, if your box hasn't.

January 2000. It wasn't used at the 2000 NCAAs, which caused a lot of grief for the referees who were just getting used to the change. It was changed to be ready for the 2000 Olympics.

So, just because I'd like to know...how many men have you killed? If you lost and are still alive, why are you STILL not dead?

And claiming you're not a bushi, after all the crap you've posted, would be the best response imaginable...

    Leggo their egos!
When you have three Romulan Warbirds blocking the escape route, Worf has an emotional breakdown about his childhood toy, Riker announces he's gay, Data's positronic brain gets a virus, and Geordi quits because he's had just one too many imminent warp core breach.... Just sit back, breathe, and follow these simple steps:
