Perhaps you should not be so quick to dismiss the value of your opponents because they "can't flick" or because they are from Singapore. Then maybe instead of getting beat 15-1 you would get beat 15-10.
Until then if I were you I'd refrain from making public comments on someone's value as a fencer. |

Fencing Masters was a joke. I fenced the head foil intructor there guy there (Lopez), This guy was so slow and he couldn't parry anything! Then there was Epee teacher guy Leow. This guy was nuts. He kept running into my epee. Didn't have to do anything but hold it out and stand there!

Where do you fence epeefencer 74? | I am Leow. May I know your name? I don't recall fencing anyone from the US recently and when did you come here?

| Oh hi Leow! You probably didn't know I was an American since I am Asian. My name is Mr. Wong. I was in Singapore back in April.
Leow, The first target in Epee is the hand. Thats the reason the guard is so big in Epee.... so that you can hide behind it. You should hide behind it as much as possible.
Good luck! |

Good luck! | April this year?? Hmm funny considering that I was busy that whole month and the two months following that trying to finish my Masters thesis and with the arrangement for my wedding. The only time I was at Fencing Masters was to deliver invitations.....

| Well....speaking as an "older" fencer. I learned to flick in self defense because some young buck decided to use my shoulder for a pounding block. Was i upset at not avoiding the hit...no. I was upset that the idiot had no idea what he was doing and kept landing flat.
Aside from that what concerns me is the holier than tough attitude of the originator of this thread.
Personally I think that such arrogance belongs at fencingsucks.....not here as it is more in line with the adolescents that hang there. |

| Foil is evolving into sabre. The flick is merely a cut writ small. Why not just switch to the real deal? |

| My dear Mr Wong...
You seem very sure of yourself and your flicking ability. I personally find your comments about Classical Fencing and other fencers very offending, especially when it seems like you know nothing about classical fencing.
And about you saying: Quote: | Singapore fencers are mostly terrible because there aren't any good instructors there besides one of the teachers at Z fencing, James Wong. Do you know him? So maybe the next time you stop by our little island, give me a ring and we'll have a friendly bout and talk over a round of drinks. Peace Out! |

Hullo,
in reply to this --- hmm the poor guy seems to be gettting the brunt of a lot of backlash for his words (haha)
Anyway, i think that alot of pple would like to know who u are mr wong (esp since we are all on a first name basis). Personally, i am a regular at FM in Singapore and i vivdly do not recall ever seeing an asian - american fencing either Leow or Lopez or eileen (btw our dear miss eileen is in retirement and hasnt fenced in 2 yrs -- so i guess your must be mistaken). This is esp so since Leow was in the middle of his masters degree and his wedding in April and thus NEVER came down to fence, only to give out his wedding invites. So either u got your facts wrong, or u could be lying.... i dont know which though i sincerely believe it would be the latter.
Besides this, i do believe fencing is an honourable sport, one which encourages learning and refinement of ones skill... as do most of us. To take pot shots at ones opponents even if u did beat them (which doesn seem to be the case) is an insult to both your integrity and honour. To be sarcastic on top of them while having a friendly discussion on the finer fencing pts is just downright despicable.
Perhaps u would consider taking spl up on his offer and swinging by FM some time again soon. Even though i do not fence epee, i would be most happy to oblige u a bout and settle our differences and the stain of my friends honour on the piste. But dont worry, i do not expect to see you anytime soon since your little 'escapade' was probably fictitious just like your fencing skills.
If i am wrong h/w, feel free to email me and we can fix a date

| Well I don't really care for you calling me by my first name. But if you really need to know then I will tell you. For now you can just call me Mr. Wong.
As for Lopez and Leow, I'm bored with them.
You can come to America and fence since I've already been to Singapore.
As for the round of drinks...
Come here and its on me. I'll try to find you some of that Tiger beer too. Thats what your people drink right? I could also find some American Newater for you too.
As for Miss Eileen... I would rather meet her outside of the piste for lunch or dinner if I ever go back to singapore. Shes a little cutey!
There was also this Cindy (or was it Candy?) girl from Singapore that I fenced in Canada. She wasn't very good but she had a fabulous personality. I could tell by the way she was holding her Epee that she might be Leow's student.
So whats your name? |

| How is it possible to not remember something in a vivid manner? How can the blank be vivid?
Is this that Singlish talk stuff? I really like hearing Singapore people speak their style of English. Its so cute! Quote: |

Hey man I'm a pirate or somekind of a Asian guy who likes to talk like Michael Cain or Peter Pan.
All I did was make the light go off all over those 2 guys. No big deal! Just fencing.
Also I've been to Singapore to fence. You guys should come here. If you can't afford it then i can loan you some money and you can stay at my house.
spl wants me to call him but he didn't leave his number. I'll call him if he wants but that would mean I need to buy a phonecard. spl would you prefer to call me?
I am heterosexual by the way and I have a girlfriend FYI. |

So whats your name? | Clarification. Cindy is not my student. She is my friend. I coach in a boys school and they are aged 13-18.
I thank SPL and Sombrero for their support, however we are here to discuss fencing so as to increase our knowledge and understanding let's just stick to that it is pointless to argue this anymore. It is Zero's opnion that myself and Lopez are not his match, let him have it. Opinions will always differ and well, we differ with him. Thank you all again.
BTW my first name is David.

| Hey ZEROFLASH! Give those people a break pahleeeez! LOL. People please do not be upset with ZEROFLASH. He is a good guy who is a bit cocky. He frustrates a lot of folks. Me and him fence at the same place and he is one of the few fencers who hold a A rating in our tiny division here in Orange County. Is your head swelling up now Wong? LOL. :-)

| Wonderful, witty reply JEC!!!
Yes I can see a nice shot to the mask comming at any moment.
At any rate, I must register my thoughts along with eveyone else. It was quite amusing to see Zeroflash get caught like that, very amusing. Also, I must say that any time Mr. Zeroflash wishes to visit my neck of the woods, I will happily give him a run for his money.
