Conomikes-Gutenberg Memorial Open Mar 21, 2009 - Mar 22, 2009 This was my first epee tournament, and I learned it's best to have your own equipment, as I had non stop weapon issues. I didn't do that great, but I learned a lot, and everyone was so helpful.

Yes, having your own gear is a good thing. A while back, I was supposed to ref an epee event, but they needed an extra guy to make it a D1. I used all borrowed weapons. First bout, my weapon failed the BIG shim. 
And ironically, I was invited to ref the event, but spent the weekend in NJ at a team banquet. The fencer who I coached in NJ on the team that was having the banquet, was fencing in the event. HA! "Sir, didn't I parry"

(I guess i should have romanced it a bit more..."
