Obama on the Tonight Show

CNN article here.

So, for lack of any intelligent discussion currently on the politics board, I give you a new subject.

How do you feel about Obama's appearance on the Tonight Show? Good? Bad? Does it matter, or do you even care?

And, on another tangent of the same subject, what effect, if any, will it or any similar things have on his Presidency?

Discuss!

EDIT: I flubbed the poll, should've been checkable. . Discuss anyway!

Yeah, really nice knowing that while this country is falling apart, he's acting like a celebrity and screwing around in Hollywood. There's that 'change' everyone's talking about; a lazy president who doesn't work!

Obama talking to the American people so they're up to speed on what he's working on? Mr. Trickery disapproves!

Bush taking a record amount of vacation in the middle of two wars to laze around on his ranch? I can only assume that Mr. Trickery gives a big thumbs up!

Well if he hadn't got that brush cleared his thinking time would have resulted in a significant fire hazard.

Responsible leadership I say.

Bush had headquarters set up there. It was like Camp David. Running around the country is different.

You're right. Running around the country actually talking to the American people, spelling out and explaining his ideas and agenda is completely different than hanging out on a ranch in the middle of nowhere.

BTW, anyone pick up on the fact that Bush bought his little ranch while trying to get elected, and left it as soon as he left office? The spoiled son of a wealthy New England family did his best to be seen as a good-ole boy from Texas. It did wonders for his electability.

Yeah...and of course the President of the United States has NO opportunities to "speak to the American people" without going on a talk show dedicated to actors hawking their latest movies and musicians hawking their latest CDs and various stupid comedic "bits"...

In other words, a pure entertainment venue.

It only reinforces the old saying that politics is show business for ugly people.

Anyway, I thought that it was an OK performance. I don't even think that the Special Olympics remark was anything to complain about, if you're not a hypersensitive politically-correct zealot.

I was interested, though, that he actually admitted that the controversial AIG bonus payments were most likely legal in the strict sense...but still thinks they can and should be negated by government action. This from a former law professor, who ought to know something about concepts like "contract" and maybe "bill of attainder"...

In sum I found it entertaining but not awfully enlightening or encouraging. Which I suppose was the goal: Keep up his celebrity status so that the pulpit stays as bully as possible.

Typical hypocrisy from the liberals and those on this board. Obama (excuse me: President Obama) can do nothing wrong and everything Bush did was evil. You like to say that Bush is stupid, but when President Obama displays his inexperience he is given a complete pass. It goes something like this: Bush does anything ... "Bush is stupid". Obama does something stupid ... "Bush is Stupid".

I tried to give Obama a chance but it didn't take him long to prove that he is incapable of running a successful country. The first president to make a teleprompter operator a cabinet post. Obama doesn't even know who the President of France is. And his inexperience shows with the gift fiasco to Russia and Great Britain. Even Chavez has called Obama ignorant.

You are not even good liberals. By definition, Liberals are:
1. supposed to be favorable to progress or reform.
2. noting or pertaining to a political party advocating measures of progressive political reform.
3. of, pertaining to, based on, or advocating liberalism.
4. favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, esp. as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties.
5. favoring or permitting freedom of action, esp. with respect to matters of personal belief or expression: a liberal policy toward dissident artists and writers.
6. of or pertaining to representational forms of government rather than aristocracies and monarchies.
7. free from prejudice or bigotry; tolerant: a liberal attitude toward foreigners.
8. open-minded or tolerant, esp. free of or not bound by traditional or conventional ideas, values, etc.
9. characterized by generosity and willingness to give in large amounts: a liberal donor.
10. given freely or abundantly; generous: a liberal donation.
11. not strict or rigorous; free; not literal: a liberal interpretation of a rule.
12. of, pertaining to, or based on the liberal arts.
13. of, pertaining to, or befitting a freeman.

You are only liberal if someone agrees with you. Liberals here are not accepting of people opposed to gay marriage, gun ownership, individual property rights, or the right to oppose abortion. Liberals aren't pro-choice, otherwise they would support Palin's daughters right to choose to have her child. The liberals in the US are pro-abortion, her only acceptable "choice" would have been to have an abortion, and then they would attack her for that.

I would have thought that the Liberals would welcome people with many different beliefs and ideas. But unless you agree with abortion, homosexuality, big government, limiting freedoms such as free speech and gun control, redistribution of other peoples wealth, the global warming myth (excuse me, climate change myth), and are against Christianity and defense of this country, then you are much better off being a conservative. What narrow minded hypocrites.

How do you fight bias? By being just as biased in the opposite direction. Brilliant!!

You fail.

Most of the people here are willing to have open and searching discussions of the issues at hand. Ad hominem attacks are usually aimed at open stupidity, or unfortunately, in reply to ad hominem attacks.

Try speaking to individuals in a respectful open-minded way and you might be surprised at the responses you receive, if you take the time to truly read them.
