sallearmourer is on a distinguished road
For the Foil Take one lead to the wire and the other lead to the blade or bell guard. The meter should show a reading of one ohm or less. Depress the tip the meter if digitl shoud go to zero.

Foil is normal a closed circuit so you should have a reading as soon has you hook up the leads.

Epee is normal a open circuit. Take the leads and plug one of the leads into the A socket and the other into B socket depress the tip you should have a reading of one ohms or less. By depress the tip you closed the circuit. Release the tip and it should go back to zero.

Now to check and see if you short out the epee when rewireed

Take one of the lead and put one wire the other lead to the blade

if you get a reading then you twisted the wire under the barrel

or the wire is not insulated shorting out to the blade

Hope this help

Tim

Modify Tim's instructions above by replacing zero with infinite ohms (or if digital, something like OL for over limit).

If using a cheap digital multimeter, then it will read a "0" on the left side of the digital read-out, which means "infinite".
