Bad Inq., BAD! No dragging other threads around with you!

I, for one, think ratings are extremely important, and the basis of all fencing. They are also way too hard to obtain, especially for young fencers. Thoughts?

Okay, this is mostly a joke, but many a true word is spoken in jest. I know that in other sports which are much larger there are often easily identifiable signs of progress for young beginners. Such as moving to a new level, certificates, graduations, getting on a higher level team. I know that my grandchildren in gymnastics get very energized when they get to go up a level, and get (their parents get to buy) a new color of leotard. Such steps I believe are usually not recognized on a national level but seem to help young students and their parents feel that the student is progressing. Maybe this is more a matter for individual club coaches, but maybe it would be a good idea to promote some sort of recognition at lower levels?

I will fight to the death any attempt to institute the wearing of colored leotards while fencing.

and I think they should be mandatory for male vet fencers over 50 so when they peel off their jacket there is something under there other than knicker straps.
