June 19-21 the Georgia Games Fencing tournament will be held in Kennesaw, Georgia (just north of Atlanta). I have talked to the Georgia State Games commission and they are eager to support wheelchair fencing- in fact would like to showcase the wheelchair fencers at this event. They have opened the event to any U.S. Wheelchair fencer.
Saturday after the competition we encourage our wheelchair fencers to fence with other fencers at the event. We will also be inviting some of our local alternative athletes to come by to watch and give it a try. Coach Diaz will also hold a clinic. Saturday night we would like to all get together at a local restaurant for dinner and to goof off some more - we will send a sign up later.
If you can attend, I ask that you sign up ASAP on ASKFRED (
http://askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.p...nament_id=7977 ) so that we can have enough frames setup for the events.
If you need any assistance; rooms, travel, etc please contact me. It was great seeing some of you this last weekend and we look forward to seeing you again in June.
PS - I am putting together a slideshow of wheelchair fencing - if you have any pictures to share please send to me. Thanks!
