2009 Connecticut State Team Fencing Championships

[Old Fencer]

The 2009 Eastern Connecticut Conference Championships were held February 21, 2009 at Griswold High School, Griswold, CT. The tournament was a huge success as it ran like clockwork staffed by professional coaches and gifted student athletes. Joseph Savino and Daryl Schlender are to be commended for a job well done.

The ECC Men’s Team Championship was won by NFA High School represented by Dayton Thomas, Corey Howe, Kurt Young and Nick Beasley. NFA is kept functional by the services of Armorer Jim Jancewicz. NFA is coached by Coach Kurt Young and Head Coach Peter Landry. A special thank you goes out to NFA Athletic Director Gary Makowicki for his support of the NFA Fencing Team.

The ECC Women’s Team Championship was won by Waterford High School represented by Colleen Mason, Veronica Agers and Hanna Muller. Waterford is kept functional by the services of Armorer Bob Mason and Managed by Kelsey Mahoney. Waterford is coached by Assistant Coach Olivia Torowski and Coach Cathy Mason. A special thank you goes out to Waterford Athletic Director David Sousa for his support of the Waterford Fencing Team.

Proprintwear will provided a complement of merchandise and services including tournament t-shirts and stenciling as well as various products on hand. The tournament shirts for your event will be provided in sizes and colors from Youth Small to 3X-Large in Ash, Black, Chocolate, Forest Green, Gold, Lime, Maroon, Navy, Pink (Bubble Gum, Hot and Light), Purple, Red, Terracotta and White in a unisex cut and from Adult Small to 2X-Large in Black, Chocolate, Hot Pink, Royal, Teal and White in a Bella Cap Sleeve. Athletes Names will appear on the back of the tournament shirt too.

Proprintwear attendance at events is contracted at a percentage of sales and has contributed more than $1,000.00 and $1,300.00 at the last two (2) Super Youth Regional Tournaments to the host clubs. Historically, Local Organizing committees and/or Local Clubs have attempted to market event merchandise and suffered monetary losses for their efforts with tons of unsold merchandise left over. Proprintwear has perfected a production and sales method providing sales revenue percentages at local events ranging from $318.00 to $462.00. You provide the space and we’ll sell the products. Although we unable to fully predict sales revenues at any event you are guaranteed to not lose revenue from unsold Tournament T-Shirts.

The Connecticut State Individual Championships at the Hopkins School were a huge success with nearly 200 fencers participating. Coach Hank Powell, Paul Luciano (Bout Committee) and Jim Harris (Chief Referee) put together a fine tournament. It seemed as if everyone enjoyed the day. Next week we are onto East Lyme High School for the Connecticut State Team Championships.
