Was snyder than the ones you usually make, eh? That's just a horrible pun.

The thing is, if the 3 FAs we signed work out, and we go deep in the playoffs....would people still say it was a bad thing? It's not like we signed Archuleta and Lloyd here...we did get 3 quality players this time. It has big potential, but if it fails...well, then we're back to square one.

I was thrilled to hear that Cassel is going to the Chiefs...it will give him a chance to prove himself. I hope it goes well for him. Trading Vrabel, however, is questionable.

The Bills took Owens? I'm sorry Matt, I can't say anything nice about the Bills anymore.

My sympathies, Matt. I'm terribly sorry. I used to root for the Bills whey they were not playing the Pats. Now, I'm afraid, I'll have to root for them to lose (not that they will win many games this year regardless). That was the dumbest move I've ever seen...completely lacking in organizational self-respect.

Hmmm, lets review. T.O. was let go by the 49ers because he was a distraction and criticized the QB, Philly let go of T.O. because he was a distraction and criticized the QB, and Dallas paid Owens $9 mil. to go away because they saw the writing on the wall - so the Bills say "yeah lets sign him!"

Oh yeah, the coaches are going to be able to keep control of him and Trent Edwards is going to have fun this season dealing with that jackass. The Bills and T.O. - honestly that is as dumb as it gets and it makes you wonder about the team organizationally.

Matt, the brightside - it is only a one-year contract.

So, I've been thinking about this whole T.O. thing since Saturday. I still don't want that jackass on my favorite team, but I'm starting to see some silver lining in this.
First, the money is not bad. Even if the worst happens, and the Bills cut him, it won't bankrupt the franchise or anything. We actually got a big-time receiver for much less than big-time money. That part makes sense.
Second, the Bills receiving corps just got a huge upgrade. Having Owens on the right side will make Lee Evans better. And Owens has never had a receiver like Evans opposite from him. Even if TO's onfield production is in the decline, take a look at his 2008 numbers. He had more receptions, touchdowns and yards than any receiver in Buffalo. If he can have 10 touchdowns and 1,000 yards again this year, I'll take it. On the field, this guy is phenomenal. And I don't question his committment in the game. Remember, he played in the Super Bowl on a bad wheel.
Third, the Bills needed to make a big move. They are desperate and don't have a single big name on the roster. Owens is now the face of the franchise, for better or worse. He's a star, and that will help market the team. Unless you follow the NFL closely, you can't name a single player in Buffalo other than Owens. Since the team can't win -- Buffalo hasn't made the playoffs in nine years -- this move makes the franchise relevant again. Even if it's to watch the train wreck, people will pay attention to the Buffalo Bills this year.
All that said, I still wouldn't want the guy on my team. He is a locker room cancer, and it is only a matter of time before he starts criticizing Trent Edwards, Offensive Coordinator Turk Schonert, Coach Dick Jauron, Owner Ralph Wilson, the guy who sells popcorn in the lower section, the towel boy and everyone else in the area. Luckily, it's only for one year.

Beloit, Matt has no choice he has to try and find the bright side as he is stuck watching the idiot on his team for a year. However everything he said is true, and if it is only for a year the outcomes might not be bad for Buffalo. The Bills still have some defining of itself to do - T.O. can help get them noticed - a more established team with a tight locker room and strong leadership would want no part of that jackass, even for a year.

If Buffalo signs T.O. to any kind of extension then they are screwed - it will get ugly. Learn the lessons from previous teams - $9 mil. to go away - that has got to make you feel loved.

Jerry Rice had 803 and 805 receiving yards in the two years he played with Owens, and he was 37 and 38 years old. He was good, but not the player he once was. Williams and Owens didn't play a full season together. Evans had 1,017 yards last year and is only 27.

That's just simply untrue. TO started playing with SF in 1996, when Jerry Rice was 34, made a Pro Bowl, had 108 receptions for 1254 yards and 8 TDs. He missed most of the next season, then put up 1157 yards and 9 TDs (which matches Lee Evans career high). He then had those two season w/ 800 yards receiving but still had 5 then 7 TDs (last season Evans had 3, the year before that 5). He followed those seasons up in Oakland w/ 1139 yds/ 9 TDs and then 1211yds/ 7 TDs at ages 39 and 40. I'd take a 34-39 year old Jerry Rice over Lee Evans any day.

And while Roy Williams didn't play a full season w/ TO, he played 10 games and is a much better receiver than Evans.

    I think Williams is overrated.
You got me on the 49ers. I thought T.O. started in 1998, not 1996.

"BUFFALO, NY—In a move that will immediately impact a roster that is already full of ****, the Bills added what many believe will be the missing piece of **** to the team's puzzle Saturday by signing world-class ****ass Terrell Owens. "With T.O., the Bills get a complete and total **** with the potential to generate more disappointment than anyone in Buffalo could have hoped for," said NFL.com senior analyst Pat Kirwan. "Throw him in with their pile-of-**** offensive line, future Hall of Fame ****head at running back, ****ty quarterback, and ****-for-brains coach, and this team has everything in place needed to achieve its ****ful potential." According to Bill's front-office dip****s, the team has the tenacity to fight for the full 60 minutes in the huddle, in the locker room, and in local strip club parking lots."

I love The Onion...and after the above post decided that I had to take a gander at their NFL page again. The funniest thing I found there was the Strong Side/Weak Side comparison of Jay Cutler. The last strong point listed:

"Like most people, has the potential to be one of the best players on the Detroit Lions."

I just don't get it.....2 first rounders, a 3rd and Kyle Orton for a marginally better QB and a 5th round pick. What exactly were the Bears thinking? Josh McDaniels just pulled one over 'em w/in the first few months of his new job.....I guess Bill rubbed off in more than just coaching.

Holy crap, the Eagles actually took a body in the first round of the draft, then ended up with two someones who can potentially catch the frickin' ball, and some help for Westbrook.

One could almost think they want to make it easier for McNabb, just push me over with a feather.
