Mixed Practice

Do men and women at this high level practice/train together? Watching mens and womens foil seems to make me think that they dont. Do fencers of olympic level ever enter mixed events? It would be fun to see Vezzali vs Sanzo. Or Nam vs Sanzo. Or other top female vs top male fencer.

From the few high level fencers I know, they do practice with/against both genders. Granted, I don't know anyone at the level that you're talking about, but of people in the top 5 in senior points, all that I know do practice against both guys and girls.

There's no reason not to practice together, and in fact they do. The top male fencers practice with some of the top women fencers in the U.S. The men don't seem to get as much from it as the girls though.

I don't think you'd want to see a mixed foil match at high level's though. I don't think Vezzali is competitive with Sanzo. I really don't think many (or any) of the top top level women are really competitive with high level male fencers.

Many european schools of thought say men should fence men, and women should fence women. I know almost for a fact the russians (at least the last time i checked) only practice with their own gender.
