Well, Darius, you are pretty fat. :-p
When I bought an epee leg sleeve from Amanda, we had to punch a new hole in the belt for it to fit. In a perfect Asian grandmother mode, she said, "You want be fencing coach, you too skinny. You eat more!"

But anyhoo, can I just point out that participating in the drills you are giving detracts from your ability to watch and correct your students?
Most coaches can give feedback both "in" the drill or out of it. But participating in fencing drills seems like a bad way to keep one's general fitness -- all the coaches at NWFC move like fencers in their lessons, which at higher levels is extremely taxing. That's decent for fencing-specific fitness but not great for my ancient knees.

To stay alive, it's mobility exercises before the teaching day starts and after it ends (when I'm disciplined), fish oil, some strength work (bang-for-your-buck exercises like squats, pullups, deadlifts, cleans), and a love-hate relationship with a foam roller.

    20 minutes a day

Youd be surprized what just 20 minutes a day will do for you. Stretch first ...do the basics exercises...then stretch afterwards. Even just a 20 minute full body workout at the gym will increase flexibility to the point youll feel the difference. Sounds simple and basic-because it is.

Wow. That sounds like a commercial for total-gym...

Yes, but if arcon is who I think he is, he's actually a certified professional in this field....

    Hehe, sounds like Amanda.

Anyways, I meant more along the lines of practicing footwork. If you're doing footwork, either you're going to find it difficult to pay attention to everyone else at the same time, or your footwork is going to suffer. At that point, do it on your own another time.

Guess you never heard of 7-Minute Abs!

It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby.

Right! You can't yell at them properly, if your dripping with sweat or short of breath. Let's face it...if your 50....you're not going to keep up with a bunch of well trained 16-year-olds.

Have one of your younger assistants or fencers lead footwork or conditioning. You can even give a lesson on a corner strip....and yell when somebody is slacking off......the Eastern European method...lotsa yelling is important!!!!
