    Wine-Cola

So I'm downstairs and I'm hungry as hell. I'm making some stew. I throw in some beans, rice, and pretty much whatever is in the bottom of the sink. More of a gumbo I rather.

I spot, in the corner of my eye, a bottle of what I will call... **** wine.

Its vintage 2008. Cabernet sauvignon but I cannot remember where its made. Its like a $5 bottle. I pour it in the stew and it smells really good. I think "I couldnt drink this straight up".

I get it in my head that maybe I should pour some wine into my pepsi, so I do.

    GUYS THIS TASTES REALLY GOOD.

In Hungary they drink red wine mixed with coca-cola.
I forget what they call it in hungarian now, but you can order it everywhere.

Something I just recently found at a liquor store in Delaware... Gluehwein. Basically, it's spiced red wine (cinnamon etc), which is heated up and consumed hot. It's traditionally served in the open-air Christmas markets in Germany (maybe elsewhere, but that's where I know it from). Absolutely perfect on a cold day.

You need to try glögg. Similar to glühwein, only much much better.

Sounds like a variety of mulled wine..... hot, spiced, usually sweetened..... great stuff

Add fruit juice to wine and you have a reasonable sangria.

Add club soda to wine and you have a nice spritzer.

But adding cola? Too sweet for my taste, but when it comes to taste there is no right or wrong; only what you like.

It really depends on the wine. You'd go to hell if you did this with anything costing more than $10 for the bottle.

However, with cheap, vintage tommorow wine, this is really awesome. I tried it with sprite too, and that was good. Vanilla coke is good. Pretty much everything is good.

But sprite and wine is just a type of spritzer. You can get that at restaurants.

    That's a sin, I don't care if it's a Foxbrook or a 2 buck Chuck.

Yes, it is very popular over there recently. I still say it's a sin, though .

Recently? I don't know...it was pretty popular even back in 1988, when I was in Hungary for the first time.

    1. do not cook with wine you would not drink

    2. buy decent wine and drink it

    3. do not put things in the wine -- certainly not ice cubes

    4. Gluehwein you drink apres ski, nowhere else.

    Believe ILS
