    Dedicated to Inq

Well I haven't been here on f.net very long, but already I know that this is probably the most grammatically correct internet forum I have ever been a member of. I ran across this video on youtube, and immediately thought of Inq, so here's to you and the (somewhat) grammatically correct internet forum of f.net.

You really shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition.
Can't you, just this once, f*** off?

    You mean like:

Joe-Bob the Aggie arrives at Harvard as a part of a student exchange program and stops the first student and says: "Howdy, I'm Joe-Bob the Aggie and I'm new here. Can you tell me where the administration building is at?"

The student responds: "We, herah at Hahhvaard, do not end sentences with prepositions."

So Joe-Bob, looks the student up and down and says, "Excuse me, sir, I sincerely apolgize for my improper use of grammar, so if I may, I'll rephrase my interogative. Could you please inform me as to where the administration building is at, a*****e?"

From the book "Planet of the Umps: A Baseball Life From Behind the Plate" by Ken Kaiser:

Lou Pinella was at bat, and I called a strike on him. It was a good pitch, but he didn't like it. He stepped out of the box and looked back at me. Hey, where was that pitch at?," he asked.
"Time," I yelled, and said, "Lou, you're a college graduate, aren't you?"
He nodded his head. "Yeah, so?"
"So? So didn't they teach you in college that you're never supposed to end a sentence with a preposition?"
Lou thought about it for a minute, then said, "You know what, you're absolutely right. Where was that pitch at, a$$hole?"
Can't you, just this once, f*** off?

A humorous retort alone does not refute the charge.

The video is good, although I would argue that the term should be "whacked", not "whack". :P

We should have more threads devoted to Inq. Actually, we should just forget fencing and devote the whole site to him.

That's what I thought this thread was going to be about. Man was I disappointed.

A thread dedicated to Inq - always a good idea, but why is this thread not in Latin? Where are the puns? Get with it, guys

I looked that up once. Apparently there is no firm proof that he ever actually said it. At least he never wrote it...

AND even if he did---he was still wrong.

So, I'm somewhat new to the forums and don't know a lot about the individuals who contribute to the threads here. Inquartata, is there a particular reason why you're so big on grammar? I'm not saying anything for or against this, I'm just curious as to why it's such a big deal. Perhaps, since this thread is dedicated to Inq., there should be some sort of list of reasons as to why he has warranted his own thread !
