"Family courts were the first to need/add metal detectors."

Going through the airport is nothing compared to some of our courts. One has even installed a full body scanner (Ick!) At another , I couldn't take in nail clippers (that was the courthouse where, some years back, an attorney was shot by an irate soon to be ex- husband.)

There are days I can't decide whether I fence foil because I am used to rules, or if I want to change to saber so I can just hit someone!

But really, the adoptions are great!

I work part-time at the Sarasota Classic Car Museum while I go to school. I maintain the inventory of more than 200 cars. It's a great job (when the cars cooperate...). Fencing is an extra-curricular activity for me and I teach the foil basics to fellow students as a volunteer.

I'm in my tenth years as a self-employed business software integrator. Also a CPA and coding geek, usually in SQL dialects and in VB. I strongly recommend the field to anyone looking to work less hours, yet pull good pay, while taking control of their own future. The trick is leveraging multiple skills to provided more value (in my case accounting knowledge and programming) to clients than traditional sources. The reduced hours helps support my time as a volunteer epee coach at both a local club and a university.

I like the work, but it's too many hours sitting at a desk, which is one reason I signed up for fencing lessons.
NextGen or ADB? Am working this, too, as a part of my UAS portfolio. PM me, am interested on your take of what is (or is not) happening.

Engineering senior director in fairly large software company, part of huge hardware/software telecommunications company. Worked in software development since age of 14, last 10 years specifically in business intelligence/datawarehousing.

And also, getting through EMT training right now - not planning to quit the day job, but it's the skills I consider important to have, and will be volunteering at local events or with local EMS whenever I can.
