Wow--the Princeton website has a press release that actually tells which teams are fencing and when this coming Sunday.

I wonder who's putting this together and why they chose "collegefencing360.com" and not simply "collegefencing.com". Could Anderson Cooper be a fan of college fencing??

I'm guessing "Pete LaFleur, a former Notre Dame assistant Sports Information Director."

Hm... I don't see that anywhere. I'm going to just go ahead and assume that "Pete LaFleur" is French for Bradley Baker.

Brad quoted it from an email earlier in this thread.

So, I get that this is *just* about NCAA fencing, and, fine, that's great, but it does mean that the mentions of the NFC this weekend are a little silly-- Brown, Brandeis and Vasser will all be there, but they may not be fencing each other, and the day is a LOT longer for them when you add the club schools than if they were each just fencing two schools.....

(The NCF is a conference of NCAA and club schools, all of whom fence each other over the course of 3 meets, each school only attends 2.)

The list of schools competing at Princeton tomorrow is also very incomplete.

The MACFA date included non-varsity programs in the participating schools listing, so I don't think that it's merely an attempt to ignore club programs.

The site is just starting, I'm willing to give benefit of the doubt that coverage will improve.

The first NCAA poll of the year was released today as well.

    Brad,

Thanks for posting this link. I was suffering yesterday while looking for updates on the St Johns College Invitational.

It is really great that Pete Lafleur is reporting again on college fencing. He is one of the most knowledgeable sports info reporters on college fencing.

The site's tribute to the late Luke La Valle is wonderful as well as the text/email alerts. I look forward to getting updates on the NYU invitational today.

And their website already has the Princeton results posted!

It's never enough, though--seems like it wouldn't be that hard for a hosting school to put ALL of the day's results up, would it?

(And yes, I know, even if they included match scores, I'd want squad scores, and even if they included squad scores, I'd want bout scores. But still . . . )

    I agree TOTALLY!!
And then when you call them on those little phones that seem glued to their ears, they are having a team riot/wrestling match on the bus and can't talk....

Pete has done a great job with both the Princeton and NYU results here.

Yup, I can figure out most of what I like to try to figure out, even without the bout scores. I can live with weapon scores. (And it sure beats waiting for the sports info department to get around to telling me less than I want to know.)

My guess is they pulled the information off of the Drew web page/press release, since they included all the teams that Drew fenced, plus Drew.
(and before you ask, no I don't have results from that meet outside of UMD's)

Right now they appear to be heavily press-release based. It will be interesting to see if/when they can gather more information, and how they choose to deal with the club/varsity interaction.

I emailed the editor at collegefencing 360.com and he replied that he plans to publish the bout scoresheets as pdf files if the coaches OK it. I then asked Peet if askFRED could publish NCAA results, and he said yes, if fencing time supported it. I then asked Dan the fencing time man and he said no, the NCAA format is not supported yet, but he hopes it will one of these days. So there you have it. For those of you raw data lovers, we will hopefully be able to see the scoresheets soon on the "360" website and maybe later on FRED.
