Array Woot, Woot, WOOT!!!
Hi, y'all! I'm so excited about what 's been happening with my new club. First of all, we had a good start thanks to the Olympics. The kids I teach were all a little starstruck with the whole idea when they came to me. Ready to be molded in other words.
Yesterday I was approached by two Girl Scouts who asked if I would do a demo for their club. Of course I would! Already looking forward to that.
AND I just got a spot on the news, because I took the initiative and contacted them!
People are so interested in fencing right now. We've got to jump on it!
Just wanted to share,

AND I just got a spot on the news, because I took the initiative and contacted them! First off, congrats on getting a club going!!! Secondly, inform the Girl Scout troop that there is a fencing merrit badge they can earn from you doing a demonstration with them. My club has helped three local GS troops earn their fencing merrit badge by doing demos at their elementary schools. Not only does it help increase the popularity of fencing in general, but also helps promote your club ;-) - It's not that I chose to fence, it's that I feel I have to fence. -

I've done a couple of demos for local GS troops and none of the leaders (nor my search of the web) turned up a specific fencing merit badge. The only two I could find are the Shape up! award and the various community service awards.

Array It's called "Stick to the Point" and is a junior badge....at least according to the paper work I was sent from a local troop leader. If you want send me a private message with your email and I can forward you the PDF. - It's not that I chose to fence, it's that I feel I have to fence. -

Array Looks like there is a "Stick to the Point" merit badge organized by a NJ girl scout. I do not know the requirements for earning one. Looks like she did a three day camp. http://gscobc.bergen.org/fencing.htm "Chance favors the prepared mind." Louis Pasteur
