I realize you're trying to be helpful, but most of us look in different sections of f-net. Personally, I hit "New Posts" and get them automatically.

With this in mind, do we need threads about threads? I can't help but feel it clutters the forum up.

We could start a thread about the existence of meta-threads in the comments and suggestions area....

    Is meta-metadata a legitimate term?

Actually, I was trying to generate a little more discussion by coaches on this topic in this forum...rather than deal with a lot of kids and parents complaining about their overpriced or undertrained coach.

I also find it interesting that we have another "fencing expert" from the empirical school offering free coaching advice on the internet....also webpage development advice....

Being a fencing expert really doesn't mean anything.....(no offense, Oiuyt).

    None taken.

I don't think there's much room for argument over whether DK is an expert in some aspects of fencing. Or that, like anyone else, his expertise doesn't cover all aspects of fencing.

The fencing expert tag here is just a convenient way for Craig to demark some of the people more likely to have significant and worthwhile experience. He certainly hasn't used it extensively enough to mark all such people and many people who aren't generally experts have localized expertise that has significant value as well as many, many times when non-expert practicioners can made points at least as valid as those from the more experienced.

And, of course, times when acknowledged experts are just simply wrong. :)

edit: Sorry about the continuing thread drift. While I don't normally mind such drift, I feel that I've really helped contribute to derailing this thread more than is normally acceptable.

Ironically, the purpose of this thread is redirection.

You're an odd fellow. In one sentence you're looking to stimulate discussion amongst the coaches, on the other hand you appear to be looking down on "yet another fencing expert" offering advice. Personally, I think f-net benefits from having new members participate in the forum. Even better if they've had some success in this sport (as either a fencer, ref or coach or combination of).

At least he hasn't suggested certifying pirates on this thread yet.

Sounds like Mda's nose is out of joint. Perhaps Craig could list him as a "Pirate Fencing Expert"

Isn't that ideal in fencing? Everyone missing you, and you not missing them?

That assumes that we're all trying to touch MdA...and didn't we have a discussion about inappropriate Internet touching in one of the Ethics threads?
