old orange 2W prieur box - almost works?

I have an old orange prieur epee and foil box and it actually works perfectly except for one thing:

when it registers a hit, the lights never go off and the noise never stops. You have to turn it off and on again to reset it for a new touch.

This seems like a very strange problem, and before I delve into the electrical components in the box I was wondering if anyone had some insight into this.

Does the machine have a switch for manual vs automatic reset somewhere? The obvious first place to start might be to make sure that the machine is set for automatic reset (IIRC the controls on Prieur machines tend to be poorly labeled). If everything else appears to be working properly then I would start looking around that switch (bear in mind that the problem may not be the switch itself - it could lie somewhere in the circuitry leading to or from the switch).

I remember once seeing a schematic diagram for a Prieur machine posted on the web somewhere - I'll PM you if I find it.

Of course the ultimate solution might be to simply buy a new machine - preferably a three-weapon machine that can easily be updated the next time the FIE changes the specifications (something that I don't recall Prieur machines being known for). It may require more cash up front however it would be more functional and there's the value of your own time to consider.
