Array My club's become ridiculously heavy on left-handed epeeists so I picked up a Hitmate to give us an additional strip 'on the cheap.' It got its first use last night and I couldn't be much more tickled with it. The only griping involved those not convinced that the grounding really works like the manual says it does. -

So basically people thought they were lying, and it was working by some hidden magical mechanism? -

Yes it did and no, not lying. I just gave them an old tech support line: 'If it thinks it works and it's doing what we want it to, don't argue with it. Now go fence!' (Okay, the last line was new. I don't think I ever told a tech customer to go fence. At least not as part of the problem-solving process itself. ) -

Array Craig,
My epee fencers are in love. I ordered and received my Hitmate in record time (awesome service once again). I brought it into practice the first night and it was hard to get them out of the salle to close up.
I'm going to video it in opperation. A great training aid.

-B Maybe he was afraid a fencer would make off with one of the Hitmates if left unsupervised. -

Array Our club just got a Hitmate system. It is fun. It gives an eerie sense of freedom. Also, it gives us another piste-with-scoring-machine. It is not 100% accurate at distinguishing between a hit that should be scored (on the body) and one that should be ignored (on the bell guard). Those of us that have experimented with it have found that occasionally you can make a perfectly good hit and it won't register. It is fairly rare that it misses a good hit, but it happens enough that you wouldn't want tournament results depending on its accuracy. One test is worth a thousand opinions. I ain't as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was. - Toby Keith Living life without taking the occasional risk is like lemon-pepper chicken without the lemon-peper. Array We don't seem to mind too much in foil or sabre....

Array Yeah, but you guys are used to being screwed out of touches. When that happens to an epee fencer, we're up in arms.
