    BG MVP Fencing Shoes

Yes, I used the search function and looked through the equipment reviews but couldn't find a thread about these shoes.

I'm looking to get some shoes because my new balance's just aren't cutting it anymore.

Does anyone have these? If so, do you like them?

I saw these shoes as well while perusing the BG website. I'm in the market, and was wondering how they stack up against Absolute's Elite II shoes (the new ones).

They both claim to be the "best fencing shoes under $70," but to paraphrase 1932's The Western Code and the 1970s Sparks, the piste ain't big enough for the two of them...

    Any thoughts?

Having held both and looked them both over at our shop, I'd say that the "MVP" shoe looks a little bit better in terms of style, but the AF II looks like it will hold up a little bit better.

We'll know more once we've put them through their paces.

I would actually give the appearance nod to the Absolute shoe, because the BG shoe is trying to look like the Asyms, while the Absolute is just doing its own thing.

Given who has made them, I am certain the Absolute is the better shoe.

Hahah, they're really throwing down the gauntlet by also claiming that it's the best under $70.

Took a quick look at them at the NAC this weekend. The look about on par with the Absolute and similarly have no padding.

Which is sort of crap, given that they're styled to look like the Asyms, which have great padding!
