Array Curious that WS was the only US weapon fencing that did not field a team. There were certainly enough ladies present... (No USA WE fencers in either event)
What with all the discussion of augmenting the new crop of American fencers' "team" experience... "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

Array To fence the team event on Sunday would mean not arriving back at school until Tuesday - at least 2 of the WS ladies had final papers or exams due on Monday and this is the beginning of finals for them. Ahh the carefree college life...
Believe me they were very annoyed they couldn't participate in the team event. -

What with all the discussion of augmenting the new crop of American fencers' "team" experience... It wasn't a designated Jr WE WC. -

Believe me they were very annoyed they couldn't participate in the team event. I figured as much...although there still were more than enough non-college kids there--Osier and Wheeler for instance, to make up at least 2/3s of a team. Roberts is in college, if I remember, but Russo is an up and comer...the three of them might have had some good clean bonding fun and learned something about team fencing, to boot. Originally Posted by teacup It wasn't a designated Jr WE WC. I figured as much, with the scarcity of WE fencers from the US...as in none. Interesting choice not to designate it, though, given there was a team component to the event. Those seem rare in the Junior WC circuit. With all the recent discussion about the value of more team competition experience for our new crop of fencers, the failure to take advantage of this opportunity seems odd.
