| So... what is known about these individuals, as far as their views on various facets of the sport (opinions on "traditionalism" vs "modernization", stances on materials/tech, ideas for marketing the sport, etc.), what policies they are/are not likely to endorse, and so on? |

Anything could happen | Well, according to the FIS official web site, at least Italy is coming out with a strong showing: all its five candidates to the various commissions were elected. http://www.federscherma.it/news.asp?i=65718&s=7 Giorgio Scarso, FIS President, elected to the FIE EC Marco Siesto, referee, elected member of the Refereeing Commission Maria Margherita Alciati, elected to the Legal Commission Antonio Fiore, M.D., FIS head of the medical commission, elected to the Medical Commisison Giuseppe Cafiero, FIS EC member, elected to the Rules Commission Gianandrea Nicolai, elected to the S.E.M.I. Commission
I have the honor and privilege to know and be friend with some of these people and I could not be more pleased for their election to the FIE roles. They will bring depth, experience and a modern vision to this sport.
Antonio Fiore is also the creator and founder of the web site Schermaonline.com with which many are now familiar. He is an orthopedic specialist and sports medicine specialist with many years of experience in the sport of fencing.
Congratulations to all elected members. |

| Holy Friggin' Crap. Roch is out????
Huge news.
My elation is tempered only by knowing nothing about how Usmanov will do things. Sure, there's that site linked above, but what will happen in reality?

Alisher Usmanov is one of those mega-rich Russian expats (oligarchs is the favoured MSM description these days) seeking a refuge for their ill-gotten gains in mega-rich-gangster-friendly London. Like his compatriot Roman Abramovich at Chelsea, he is currently trying to buy a trophy UK Premiership football club - Arsenal

| Aside from the lengthy discussion of an influx of money into fencing (if it happens, that'd be great, but I'll believe it when I see it), does this mean the return to old timing? "Amendments to the rules will be introduced in line with the requirement to improve aesthetics. Herewith, a balance will be drawn between enhancing aesthetics, and maintaining a diversity of technical and tactical fencing skills. The attempts to unify all types of fencing will be ceased"
Or is that just wishful thinking on my part? |

| I'm curious as to whether the vote was a rout or a narrow victory. Just to find out what the general sentiment was about Roch. Forgive the dumb question, but just who is it that votes? Quote:

I can't wait to hear what the "unbelieveable stuff" is... | The vote was 66-61, I believe. Congress reps from each country.

Hopefully Osamov was reverse soe fo the more retarded Roch-isms....NOT forcing fencers to buy lexan masks would be a start....reversing the bib as target would be a 2nd...removing the restrictions on screwless foil/epee tips a 3rd |
