Array I'm fine with the lockout timing. I am yet to see a correct riposte that doesn't turn on a light. Come to think of it, I can't recall seeing any correct action that gets locked out on timing.
However, get rid of the current debounce time. I wish hitting someone would turn on a light... "Sir, didn't I parry"
"You didn't take advantage of his blade enough, so no."
(I guess i should have romanced it a bit more..." -

Array I've seen a number of correct ripostes get locked out on the new saber timing. At the level of NAC's and World Cups, saber fencers have learned the epee trick of attacking just short enough to put the tip of the saber on the bell. If the opponent opens up the guard to make a riposte, the remise can lockout the riposte if it is done in association with dynamic footwork on the retreat.
Ivan Lee also mentioned this in his seminar at the Cherry Blossom last year, and advised that the defender add an extra step on the retreat to defeat the remise.

AE Catwood is discussing foil you are talking sabre. I dont totally agree with him but 350ms should be enough for a simple foil reposte I just know that a bit longer would be better. Go to the well until the well is dry. When the well is dry find a new well. -

Array Hmmm....from re-reading the thread more carefully, you're probably correct. Shecks comment was sticking in my mind when I wrote the reply.

AE Sorry I should read more carefully. LOL! -

Array I was going to ask, myself, if he was talking about foil, sabre or both. I have personally had clean, correct sabre ripostes locked out by brushing against the opponent's blade as I extended off the parry. -

Now I can see he was talking about foil (which makes sense because it is soo clear the sabre blockout time is too short). I had overlooked the last part part about debounce timing. Similar Threads -
