Array Mask Padding I was curious if it was legal to add a little bit of padding to the inside of my mask? I'm not talking about putting on full face padding or whatever, just adding a bit of foam inside on the tang (?) where it 'cuts' me a little bit (I've kinda got a funky shaped head lol) on the top of my head. The mask isn't too tight, I'm just a 'sensitive' woman (lol) and just the weight of my mask gets a little bothersome. Array Yes, so long as it doesn't adversely affect the structural integrity of the mask. -

Array Not a problem at all...you;re not doing anything to the safety aspect, nor is it giving you an unfair advantage.
We had a kid at SwordPlay who was small for his age...for the longest time he had a 2 inch thick block of foam in the top of his mask to help the fit...took him about three years to finally grow into the mask and lose the foam. -

Heh....it also made it easy to spot him from behind if you didn't see the back of his lame!
He fences for UC San Diego now....but I have a hard time thinking of him in college!! -

Array i have a question, though- i got a new mask last week, and, no matter how i adjust it, it's extraordinarily loud. at least twice so as my old one, and they are both from AF and both the same models... any way i can fix this? -

Array i don't know... the sound waves resonate better or something. it just sounds like twice as loud as my old mask. i don't know why or how i can stop it. (other than parrying five 24/7) -

I would think that a hard(er) part of the mask is contacting a hard(er) part of your head and conducting through bone to the ear. Find the contact points and pad them. I would think that should work to reduce the apparent loudness of the sound. Similar Threads -
