Array Lexan shield expiration date markinginfo So...we all know that the shields only have a 2 year lifespan...unfortunately, there's no standard as to HOW to mark that date on the shields. Some use month/year, others use year/month...very irritating, since it's all numeric...if the month was spelled out (or the year was 4 digits) it'd be easier.
Obviously, once we hit 2011 it'll be moot, since the expiration year would be 2013...but until then....
I've contacted the makers of all the currently approved lexan masks re this...here's the rundown:
PBT: Year/month (with a apostrophe next to the year...so it'd be '08, for example)
---------------
Leon Paul: Month/year
Allstar: Month/year
Blue Gauntlet: Month/year
Negrini: Month/year
Uhlmann: Month/year
Garjodoni: Month/year

Remember that ONLY the manufacturer can put his name in the FIE shield....so if I was to import a Gajardoni FIE and slap H.O.M. on the side, it would still HAVE to have Gajardoni in the FIE shield.
That was the big complaint with Triplette's "FIE" mask...it WAS a Gajardoni FIE shell, but Triplette put on their own 1600N bib AND they put THEIR name in the FIE shield on the tongue....verboten.
There is no protocol for a composite mask. The Triplette's may have been perfectly good masks (Donald Benge had one....it was actually very good)....but it would not be allowed at an FIE event....which would make buying or borrowing a LEGIT mask necessarry. -

Array The list is now complete, as I got a response from Garjodoni this morning.
