Array My guess: recession will cause the Dow to slide to about 6500 by March then slowly climb back to 11800 by the end of the year.
Buy stocks in February guys.

Array Dow Jones will be < 6,000. The age of the evil mammon-worshipers is coming to an end, and it will give way to the age of lethargic socialism. I base my reasoning on tried-and-true pessimism and the fact this promises to be Retail's version of the apocalypse this Christmas. "Time line? Time isn't made of lines. It's made of circles. That is why clocks are round!"---Michael J. Caboose -
dow will finish its self-correction soon, after q4 results are in in 09, and will continue its historical growth trend to hit somewhere in the 9000-9500 range. -

Array I'm tempted to generated a weighted average of this poll, and also interested in seeing results for the same question over the next few months- clearly though we would need new polls each time in order to allow people to reassess.
EDIT: The weighted average as of 9:50 EST 12-03-2008 is 8672 (assuming that the average value for the first >6000 option is 3000, and the average option for the last 11600 is only an additional half an increment).

Array I put it between 88-90somthing. Why? because it was at 10,000 in 1993 or 1994, and dropped two thousand points in 15 years. Therefore, it won't shoot all the way up again, but rather settle at a decent leve. The sword of Good and Evil. -

Array I believe you're off by a factor of 10. In 1993 and 1994, it was around 1-2K, maybe 3K at best. Similar Threads -
