Joke Pirate Definitions for the Coaching Corner

Avast mateys, Let’s ‘ave some fun. ‘ere be the terms.

Pirates – all fencing coaches amateur or professional whether they honor the code or not

Buccaneer – pirate who honors the code

The code – the education, training, and certification of fencing coaches

Skallywag – referee

Sassypants – referee who dabbles in pirating

Privateer – misguided pirate who for some reason (known only to them) or economic necessity is also a skallywag

Letter of Marque – the more genteel amongst the privateers

Treasure – all fencers willing to learn

Bilge rats – know-it-all fencers who are none of the above

Pirates ….stand and deliver additional terms for a vote by the crew
