| Sectionals 2009 We are now selecting the date for Sectionals. The current location is in KS. If you have any input, please contact your division chair or post here. |

| can we rethink that location? no body lives there. AND it's tornado central. In a year where travel to it will likely be low anyways lets try not to make it worse by flying to sectionals in the spring in crappy weather.
At least Arizona is central to NM and Colorado. I'm not opposed to sectionals being anywhere... except for Kansas.
I'm sure we'd be happy as peaches to hold it.
Mark my words, change the venue or else face extremely LOOOOOOOOW attendance.
I count for like 10 people...(FATfencer)

| It was discussed at length at the Section meeting in Boulder. I'm sure the secretary has the minutes up on the website if you're interested.

| I dont doubt that.... It was discussed, ratified, etc.
However...
The economy being as it is.. eek!!
Having it there instead of a state more centrally located place/airline hub (think Southwest)where a greater number of people can benefit seems, well, wrong.
Doubtless Kansas participants see nothign wrong with it and although I sympathize you may consider looking at a regional event like Duel In the Desert...you know the event in Nevada that no one is going to?
Sectionals is by no means as attractive an event as DITD and it IS centrally located for many. Vegas is a huge hub with lots of specials. Not so in Wherever, Kansas.
Seriously, please take a look at hosting it elsewhere. I'll be there early, likely, unless it is in Kansas and you can use me as gaffer tape guy for the whole event. BTW: I never volunteer for anything so this should tell you something.
All the best,

| Well, this year you can just go to an ROC and not have to qualify for Div IA through Sectionals at all.

| yes wonderful FF. I happen to live in Kansas, and it's high time that we got a tournament that has any importance out here. I train under Kelly Williams, (if that name means anything to you, which it should) and we haven't had a quallifier of any sorts out here for many years. Now, not that i have a grudge against AZ, (having been born there) but you folks can travel. It's obviously cheapest for them to put it here. And as for the tornadoes... we have basements.

| No...no...it's cheapest to hold Sectionals in Colorado, the way they almost always do. But it's only fair that you guys get a turn. Even if I CAN only name one sabre fencer from KC...
But you know, foilists always want their own way.

I promise well all go to Kansas and visit Dorothy and Toto...lets just do it some year when it doesnt suck to do so.
Besides, i predict that if you hold it you guys will lose crap tons of money. Nobody is going... and after a dismal turnout who is ever going to vote for holding it in kansas again? Sometimes its ok to not be selfish...think for the future. taking short term gains for long term losses is NOT a good idea.
Coming from me thats tough to swallow I know, but I have a prima facie right to be selfish :-)

PS: But really, mamma said kansas fencers is onery cuz they have all them teeth and no toothbrush.

| Carothers.
In the interim, I recalled another: Parelman.
I'm sure you have more who don't travel to competitions too much.

| And yet, those two seem to be the only ones who compete in it. Which is probably why their names came to mind.
Not significant of anything, just mildly interesting...
