    Stretchy Pants Vs. Standard

I'm looking to purchase my first pair of knickers, and I'm curious to know what the pros and cons of the stretchy knickers vs. normal knickers. I'm debating between these two on the absolute fencing website.

I haven't used Absolute uniforms, but definitely stretchy is a massive improvement over non-stretchy. I had Blade cotton breeches at first, and when I switched to stretchy Santelli breeches it was like night and day. Suddenly I could move without any binding, and the only thing limiting my lunge was my own flexibility, not the way the non-stretchy breeches bound up. Major comfort difference too. The only thing that could be a downside for some people is that typically stretchy uniforms protect a little less against bruising.

I definitely recommend stretchy pants too ( hey, remember Nacho Libre?).

Did I mention one's buttocks always look more flattering in stretchy pants?

I have no experience of the brand you're mentioning, but I'd say go for the stretchies. As fencerchica says, they're a huge improvement over non-stretchy breeches (especially if you're female). You will not be disappointed. Good luck.

Normal fencing pants will not limit your movement if you are doing NORMAL fencing movements. That's what they're designed to do. If you need to perform contortionist gymnastics in order to succeed at fencing, perhaps you'd all be better off spending the money on additional lessons...

Stay away from the nylon at all costs, unless you are an exhibitionist.

Note that the poly/cotton mix stuff usually does stretch, a little bit. Or I should say it's got a bit of give in it.

I'm a big fan of the nylon stuff. Stretchy is wayyyy better than not stretchy. If you want more protection from bruises, maybe go for a blend thats meant to stretch, but the lightest nylon knickers are what I use because they are crazy breathable and very stretchy.

I am a big fan of the AF stetchy (I have had 2 pairs of the nylon unisex ones) knickers in general, they fit well, are comfy and are inexpensive.

Most definitely stretchy. I know, I'm violating EVERY Fat Girl Rule in the book (especially 'cause I wear spandex under a pair of running shorts under my stretchy knickers), but I feel like I can move better in them. They are also a lot more comfortable for me.

Meh, we seem to be getting the feminine version of the "I don't wear a cup 'cause it's uncomfortable" argument here...

You all wear a metal cage on your heads, but cloth is just too restrictive for you...

    Oy.

LOL! Morale Officer's Personal Fat Girl rule #34: No Nude Beaches
LOL! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Stretch also works better for me for the few times I've got my knee brace on. It's more comfortable in my lunges having stretch as well. As someone else said, there's no bunching. The other part of the "female perspective" is that unless I'm going to get custom knickers made (which I really can't afford), stretch is more comfortable because in my size, they usually send me mens...and sorry guys, but you don't have hips and really don't have a rear. lol!
