Negrini VS Allstar Looking to buy a new jacket and breeches. Have narrowed it down to 4 options:
Negrini "Evolution"
Negrini "High Performance"
Allstar "Ecostar"
Allstar "Startex"
Main concerns:
1.) Have heard that Allstar quality has fallen in recent years.
2.) Apparently the negrini uniform has a "cotton towel" lining. How can the uniform possibly be light, dry, and cool if it has this?
4.) I will buy a plastron from the same company as the uniform. And Negrini offer a stretchy plastron, which sounds good to me.
3.) I will also buy a lame from the same company. I want a lame/jacket combination that will not result in the lame eating the jacket (ie pilling, wearing out, etc).
Any opinions, comments and answers appreciated

Array Out of curiosity, what made you rule out Leon Paul? -
When are you looking to purchase? I have just put in an order for a High Performance uniform for myself, and an Evolution uniform for a clubmate, which I should get my hands on sometime mid-December. If you're willing to hold off, I can provide more details once I get them.
I currently have a 350N Negrini uniform, and the "cotton towel" lining isn't quite as thick as you make it sound, but it is there around the weapon side (I can only assume to provide additional padding); don't know how it applies to the FIE series though. I also have a Negrini plastron, which I love. -
Sean Butler:
I think that Negrini High Peformance and Allstar Startex are made of the same material as LP Sydney anyway, and LP Sydney is apparently very straight cut (ie not tailored) while the other two have a tailored fit. I am tall with wide shoulders and don't like the jaket to have too much loose fabric around the waist/stomach.
forethought:
I am not in a hurry to buy the gear. It would be fantastic if you could write a review/comparison of the Evolution and High Performance when you get them.
everyone else:
Keep the coments coming. I am particularly interested in hearing about this lining on the Negrini gear. Does it become soaked with sweat? Is it heavy? -

Array I have a Negrini FIE jacket, and I find the towel-like lining to be fairly light. I sweat profusely, and this jacket seems about the same as my last jacket, which was an Uhlmann FIE stretch. I like my Negrini a bit better, but that has to do with the tailoring, I think. -
