Array The Novembrist Newsletter I had my first fencing class last night, and absolutely loved it. We learned many of the basics: advance, retreat, crossover steps, lunge, etc.
The downside was that only 4 people showed up for the class, and if the club doesn't get at least one more person there, they're going to cancel the class until January. Wahhhhh!!!!!
Is this typically a slow time of year at fencing classes?

Array I wouldn't say it's typical. In this part of the country anyway, this is probably the busiest time for new classes. Been There. Done That. Too Bad. -

B. Is this typically a slow time of year at fencing classes? A. Have you considered recruiting among your friends/family?
B. Dunno. My September class was about 20. The latest beginner's class that uses the same time slot has way fewer people. Maybe 5 or 6. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better. Samuel Beckett -
Summer I think is the busiest -
You learned En guarde, advance, retreat, crossovers and lunge on your first day? -

Parenthetically, just for kicks, I showed up at my club's beginning foil class on Saturday, and it covered a lot more territory than the epee class did. While we relearned all of the above, the teacher thought we were doing so well that he spent the last half-hour teaching us parries. Is that your little friend in the wood chipper? Similar Threads -
