It sounds very promising indeed. Sadly, certain groups within the US will probably protest this...

I have no problem at all with this. I only hope that in the near future devouring living embryos will become an acceptable trend in society, because otherwise I have a whole lot of videotape I have to destroy.

Don't worry, that would be very unlikely. Another potential strategy would be to autoharvest your own stem cells from other tissues. Force them into differentiating into neurons and then transplanting them. The thing that was not included in the article is that there are locations within the human brain where neurogenesis (formation of new brain cells) can be induced even in elderly humans. Stimulating or regulating the division (reproduction) of these pluripotential cells would probably be the key to the future. However, the biggest challenge is to get these "new" neurons to connect with the thousands of normal contacts within the circuitry to make them truly functional replacements for lost neurons. There are many research questions still unanswered.... Nevertheless, this is a very exciting finding.

This is awesome, very interesting and encouraging article. I have several disorders, I'm just waiting for a real breakthrough....sounds like they're getting closer every day.
