    viva la vida's meaning???

    hey fencers, you all know the song Viva La Vida by coldplay, right? well, i was wondering what you think its meaning or what references it makes. i personaly think they are talking about the knights templar from the crusades but ive seen that some people think otherwise. whats your opinion???

    I believe that in an interview, the band stated it was about a man at the end of his life who realized that "St. Peter wasn't going to call his name." Basically someone who realized he had reached the end of the line and wasn't going to make the cut.

    Alternative meanings have heard put forward are the song is based off of King Louis XVI of France or Czar Nicholas II of Russia. I've heard alot of people agree it deals with the end of an empire or an apocalypse of sorts.

    I'm pretty sure that C. Martin stated in an interview that it's about Louis XIV

    I assume you mean Louis XVI. Louis XIV's castles stood upon pillars that were very much of granite :-)
