Tips

Can anyone provide me with a tutorial on how to put together a foil/epee tip. If you can provide photos it would be really good. Thanks Sam

The armory section at LP is the best thing with pictures I could think of off the top of my head. If that does not answer all your questions, feel free to post here with more details. http://www.leonpaul.com/fencing_supp...ng_armoury.htm

One of the big problem with your question is its vagueness.

Each type of tip is different.

For Foil, I would do different steps for Uhlmann then I would for Leon Paul, then I would for Prieur, then I would for Schermasport, etc.

The German, French and English Epee have a lot in common, but they are different than the Italian and there are multiple Italian.

Can you be a little more specific.

Tip type

I am intending to use a German tip from FWF, but from my little experience with tips, they all fit together in much the same way. The attached image shows that all the tips fit together in the same way.

First of all you diagram is showing Foil, not Epee.

They don't show that to me.

First of all the British has no moving ring. The others do.

Second on the French the screw goes into the ring. On the others they screw into the barrel.

Third, the British tip had a solid bottom, while the others the bottom is forced on.

Fourth, the French has no outer metal shell.

Fifth, on the French you must completely remove the screws to take out the spring. With the others the screw can be left partly screwed in.

As I said previously, there are other ones that are even more different.

For Epee, the Leon Paul descriptions that CvilleFencer suggested will be good for the FWF tips.

Which Foil tip do you use?

It is helpful, if when you have a technical question you be as specific as possible. Each piece of equipment built is a compromise of engineering in what the designers prioritize. Even as simple as adjusting the travel for Epee, I would want to what type of tip.
