Array Epee Fencing Camp The idea of having a fencing camp for males and females of the same weapon seems like an idea whose time has come.
It is an excellent idea.
Will the foil and saber also do this? (hint hint)

The Momster What camp are you referring to? -

Array Sorry...this one

Array It's an excellent idea, even if its location is far outside of my price range. There are plenty of youth-oriented training camps but there are plenty of adults that would shell out for these things. -

Single-weapon camps would seem to be logistically easier to organize than 3-weapon camps. Definitely a good idea. -

Array I'm confused. SIngle weapon camps are not a new idea. I see single weapon camps advertised (esp in the summer) all of the time. I believe the PNWFC is also holding some single weapon (or two weapon) camps this winter. I know other clubs do as well.
What makes this one so unique?

And, it's offering some serious freebies to the top points placement fencers, in an attempt to gather as many of the US' top junior and cadet epee fencers together to train together.
And, being at the OTC, maybe it's turf-battle free, or at least not given the stamp of an existing club/coach/constituency. "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

Array honestly, if I were going to pick a weapon to hold a combined gender camp in, I'd pick epee. The tactics and strategy in epee are closer between the genders than in the other two. That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again. -

It's open to women, but it looks as though the initiative is coming from Seth & Cody. Or maybe you know more behind-the-scenes info. -

It's a different topic, but I would say just the opposite, men and women epee fencers seem -- at least to me -- to approach the weapon VERY differently. In fact, I just had this same discussion with another coach at the Columbus Div 2/3 in which we were discussing this very thing.
That doesn't preclude a mixed training camp, of course. But if I were running a mixed epee camp, I wouldn't make that assumption.

Array Well, at least it seems to be an adult-oriented camp. I'd say this is the big difference in a sea of youth camps. Similar Threads -
