| SYC and RYC I couldn't get on to the Youth Program website through USFA. Does anyone know the schedule for this year? Is it published somewhere? |

| They should all be on FRED eventually.
When I say should, I'm pretty sure it's a requirement of the program. As for when they will all be designated, that I don't know. |

| When they do end up on askfred, will there be some sort of category tag for all SYC's? How will I know which division to look? I happen to find one for North Atlantic by accident but would I have to search the whole country for others? |

Use the all section setting and type in either SYC or Super Youth for the type of tournament.
There was supposedly a restructuring of the YDC but I heard that Maureen was called back as chair. I do not understand why the bidding system is so late getting started this year as it always takes awhile and who knows when the SYCs will be awarded.
Iris Zimmerman was awarded an SYC outside this bidding year so there will be a well attended event at Rochester in November. http://askfred.net/Events/whoIsComin...nament_id=6287

| That's not so bad; it's trying to do it in Dec-Mar that's mildly foolish.

| It's pretty sad that we are in the middle of October and not only is there no update to the youth fencing program by the USFA, the Regional Youth Circuit link on their web page now goes to a internet search engine with links to all sorts of misc web sites. As a parent, other than doing random askfred searches for SYC tourneys, there are no other organized resources for us. If I was a parent brand new to the youth fencing tourney circuit, I would be out of luck. Very sad. |

| I think, for this season, make all the youth NACs and Summer Nationals be open events for Y10 and Y12, because we're getting very late in running RYCs for qualifiers to Y10 and Y12 events.
Hate to screw some poor kid because the organization can't get organized.

| Open Meeting of Youth Committe in St Louis Quote:

My advice is that youth parents and coaches demand an "open meeting" of the Youth Committee at the NAC B in St. Louis in November. There is a Y14 event so there should be plenty of youth parents and coaches in attendance.
Find out what is going on!

| I like the idea of a parents meeting in St. Louis.
My daughter just turned 13 (last week), so we only have 2 seasons left in Y14, which I am very happy about. Every year we have had a different delay in scheduling for the SYCs. Believe it or not my daughter has other things in her life other than fencing (yes I know hard to believe ). Her schedule is filling up fast for all her other activities already. Maybe she will not do a SYC this year.
I am not sure how and why the tournament in November is an SYC??? There has been nothing on the youth site. How would anyone other than local fencers even know about the tournament? (not all parents read fnet)

LL | I spoke with both Collin Clinton and Iris Zimmerman this past weekend at the NAC and got the "how it happened" part of the SYC and it is a USFA sanctioned pointed SYC.
I came across it by checking tournaments on askFred a couple of weeks ago.
Iris is happy to answer any questions about her tournament and she sent out a great info packet with discount tickets to the hockey game on Friday night. Knowing the coaches at Rochester, I am expecting a very will run event and am glad it is in November.
I will be at the NAC B in St Louis all four days and think that a parents meeting is a great idea. Does advance research need to be done?

| If a parents meeting does materialize for the St. Louis NAC would someone please post it on fencing.net. This seems to be the only timely resource for any current information on youth fencing at the national level. Ugh! |

The chair of the Youth Committee is is listed on the USFA website. Why don't all parents who want answers to the questions quoted above email her? |
