| Read First Sticky I've noticed that people are posting a lot of the same threads-- the "what shoes" "what jacket" "screaming" type threads. We get them a lot.... But people seem to be getting more frustrated about them recently, and reacting in kind. I assume we're also possibly getting more new people due to the Olympics.
Not every goes to the new fencers section, and there isn't much of a "welcome to the boards, here's how things work" kind of section there. The Welcome to the Watercooler thread addresses a few problems we've had in the past, but isn't directed at brand new people.
Things I think we'd benefit from letting new people know about:
* The search function, and how to best use it
*what reputation is
* Some of the most seen threads, and a few examples of good places to start reading
*when to revive older threads, when not to
*we're often snarky, and that's not going to change
I would be happy to write a first draft if other people think this is something that would help. |
