The DVD isn't bad, although at times it seems like the lighting could have been better (I had to adjust the brightness on my monitor in order to see what they were doing when adjusting travel on the epee tip). It covers most of the basic material however I don't recall it saying much about saber head cords (not that there's a whole lot to say - it's just a length of wire with a clip soldered at each end).
You might also consider Ted Li's "You Can Do It" video (
available from Absolute). It covers much the same material and Ted is one of the best in the business. Unfortunately because it appears to have originally been developed for videotape it isn't broken down into chapters as nicely as the ABC DVD from Fencing.net.
As far as books are concerned, Merg's "The Care and Feeding of All Things Fencing" (available from
HOM fencing) is probably the most comprehensive work out there. Other books worth looking at include Rudy Volkman's "Electrical Fencing Equipment - What Goes Wrong and How to Repair It" (available from
Absolute and other vendors) and Chris Green's "How to be an Armorer Without Loosing You Sanity" (available from
YeOldeArmorer).
