Array Disgusted I am disgusted. I've submitted over a hundred resumes and cv's and I still don't have an answer. All around me are people with criminal records, thieves and prostitutes and they all have jobs. I refuse to sink to their level. I refuse to take drugs or break the law. The sword of Good and Evil. -

Array Either lower your standards, or increase your experience. Or both.
Also, clarify what kind of work you are looking for so that we may be of more assistance.
Or alternately, you can always go here for good advice. Some men aren't looking for anything logical. Some men just want to watch the world burn. -
I am not acquainted with thieves since I abandoned the political track, and I sympathize with your frustration at not working, but I would like to speak up out of respect for sex workers. I remember some Bible facts and quotes that speak to faith, and hope, and love, actually. Even for thieves and prostitutes.
You are not alone. It seems to be a time when people need to help each other out. And we are just seeing the tip o' the iceberg. I'm not runnin'.
It's a little different now.

Array What line of work are you interested in?
Are the resumes cold-contacts or are you responding to an ad for a position?
How long have you been waiting for a response?
If you are fresh out of school, do you have, or would you consider doing internships to add to your resume that show some experience? Array You're all good. I went off the beam I'm sorry fencing friends, I just can't help it. I'm a patriot damn it, and down to my last pair of plastic thong shoes; three pair of shorts; a few tshirts and a rash that won't go away. I've submitted over 130 resumes in a small town - I'm upset; I won't make it; I don't care if the world explodes anymore. I worked my ass off for 35 years. This is it friends, in three months I'm either here, employed or gone for good. I have tried everything legal and normal. This is it, the world has gone mad, the country is getting ready for their three month vacation with santa claus; three billion trillion dollars down the toilet for some jerks an insurance company that doesn't deserve anything; now we have candidates running for office who comment on lipstick; farm animals; and revolting scenerios. Lou Dobbs asked the question: does America deserve good leadership; I'm tempted to say no - None of the candidates will "change" anything - the majority of the population is running around with nothing but chump change in their pockets. If they really wanted to bail out Americans, they'd say: 'Seven hundred billion dollars divided by the population of Adult Citizens in the Unitied states = X" and start mailing out checks, and then tell those companies to go to blazes. But maybe people just have an expectation that they deserve more; maybe the feeling of entitlement by a few short-sighted individuals out there has been the underpinning of the financial world. Who wanted a 401K? A dimwit. It was someone's bright idea of adding 'responsibility' to some HR department secretary. No-one wanted them from the beginning; no-one wanted anything beyond their small metal desk, their pencils, a typewriter and the ability to safeguard. I miss the old mail-drops, stamping illogical numbers on countless papers in triplicate; the tacky coffee break room; and playing a crummy game of chess with a guy from the other department causing speculations that I just may transfer over to the other department, leaving a 'gap' - but now the picture has changed. They're selling 401K's to employees that they plan to fire in three months before they acrue; they want to amort everyone; an entire department was shelved and in it's place is a large desk, some artwork and a tiny red suit in front of a computer typing 30 wpm with difficulity through the noise of her acrylic nails; that is why I am upset, that our values are gone, that short nails at 70wpm mean nothing. That good artwork is placed in places staffed with greedy, vile little creeps that really know nothing about art at all, which is why art is so expensive, it is so expensive because it costs blood to make it really valuable, because it has no intrinsic value. Array I feel your pain. Six months and 260 resumes for me. In the past, it never took more than two resumes for me to land a great job. In addition, I have a home, wife and kids to support. It's not easy.
On the other hand, I have learned a lot of good survival skills, and I have learned what makes employers at least respond to a resume. I'm at the point now where they at least get back to me right away, even if they have "more qualified" individuals who can fill the job.
You are not alone. The world cannot beat you. -

Array Hang in there. I've been in the workforce since 1991 and only one job has lasted more than three years. Two manufacturing companies that were bought out, two that got in financial trouble, one that I just hated to work for. After moving back and forth across the country several times, I finally went to work on the road for a couple of years, then landed a job with the local city government two years ago. Hopefully, this one will last. At 40, I'm ready to settle down. -

It sounds like (like me) you are burned out on the corporate system. Maybe it's time to look in a completely new direction. Maybe it is time to ask yourself, "If I wasn't doing xyz for a career, what would I be doing?" One test is worth a thousand opinions.
