Need help in finding nice fit and over all good jacket.

Right now I am using the absolute comfort line jacket size 36. The fit at the waist is ok but the arm length is really small and i don't like it. I was looking at the PBT 350 N kids jacket, Leon Paul compatition mens jacket and absolute full stretch. I would like to know what would be the best and still fit me.
    Thanks

Sounds like you need a tall size. All manufactures offer then (usually for more money). The Absolute is the longest standard size I've seen.

    Why not look at

    LP stretch FIE?

You'll never have to buy a jacket again unless the FIE changes its certifications...which will likely be never. I've seen and several in my club have this jacket. One has had his for 3 years and it looks new except for stains and the fact he doesnt wash it as much as he should....but then again what fencer does? If you look at the threads you know how big a conversion this is. I'm a big believer in LP...their new mask is easily 5 times better than anything out there. Mesh will last forever AND the bib and everything else is replaceable for pennies. Beats buying a new mask.

Why buy it again and again when you can buy it right and never have to buy anything else?

I've HEARD good things about Escrime but have never seen it in person.

I'm not a big fan of 350. IMHO its essentially no protection at all. You can pierce that jacket with a busted blade. BUt 800 newtons? not likely.

LP has Fatfencer's unconditional seal of approval.

PS: It's the little things that make a difference. The insides of collars, the zippers, the stitching that doesnt unravel... all of this is much higher quality on an LP uniform than on Uhlmann/Allstar/PBT/Absolute. I've owned most every brand except a Triplette mask and uniforms. I've always been a price shopper. Now I only shop quality. I don't have to replace quality....it was built right the first time.

PPS: The company that makes a mask with a built in Forehead Cooler...that's impressive... LP

    Don't listen to Fat Fencer

Fatfencer's files have been corrupted by the Pauls!

Talk to Rick at Escrime USA. His email address is rick@escrimeusa.com.

Actually, given your name, I'm surprised that you didn't go straight to Uhlmann or FWF.

But I have experience with many many uniforms (with the exception of LP, actually, since they don't make my size), and I can say that it's worth talking to Escrime.

well i haven't heard much about the regular uniforms for uhlman. also price is a factor for i am still growing but i need good stuff. fie uniforms are too expensive to have for week and then grow out of it.

If you are still growing and price is a factor

that you can't surmount(cuz you are growing)

then talk to Triplette. They have good gear cheaper than you can buy elsewhere. If you are looking for 350 Newton only and price/fit are your main concerns then Triplette definitely.

Their 800 Newton Unis aren't bad by any means... just a bit yellow-tinged. They really should do something about that.

I'm not saying Escrime is bad. I've spoken to Rick many times... but I haven't SEEN it.

I'm sure he'll put out a good quality product but I'm waiting for his '970 newton' to do a review. Have to get a vid camera with working download software!!!!!!! I still owe the Pauls a video mask review. Grrr. Damn vidcam!!

Price is less a concern for me since I'm not growing (any way other than horizontally) so price independent of quality is not how I look at it. I wanna buy something and have it last essentially forever.... so I don;t have to buy it again. The LP exchange mask is everything a mask should be and none of the things it shouldn't be.

Beloit, if you've been around enough you know how I've felt in the past towards LP. I too have purchased everything out there... except for Escrime since he can't get my products out...

LP just makes the best and the product lifetime is so much longer than Uhlmann/Allstar/Absolute, etc. that I can't justify buying anything else.

I sure hope Rick can put out a product that stands up to LP for his sake. Otherwise he'll be just another fencing vendor. I wouldn't want to go into business unless I could be the best.

The best is LP. even when you consider price, quality, etc.

If the budget is tight and your still growing then Triplette is the way to go....good workhorse stuff.

    FTFY.

It's really not that hard to get Rick's gear, you e-mail him, you call him, or you go to his store, and you order them in your size. Which, I have SEEN, and I have IN MY HANDS. Shilling for LP is one thing, but good lord man, wipe your nose, it's getting a bit brown.

Going on about quality and 350N vs 800N, the number of newtons has little to do with the uniform's quality. I have owned just about everything, and what I don't my wife has, or my coach has. For now, buy the absolute jacket, it's affordable, comfortable, and you won't feel bad when you out grow it. Or, you could spend 300 or more on a LP Sydney Jacket, and get FF a comission for selling you on it.

In other words, use your noggin kiddo, think it through, and talk to the people you fence with, ask them, and ask your coach, they're good for these kinds of things.

It's really funny to see FF so strongly in favor of LP.

LP is also my pick for nice stuff. They make good products. LP is very good about tailoring, so I would definitely pick them for that reason too.

However, most vendors will be able to get you a long. It's relatively simple to get. I would just pick whatever you want based on price, material, etc, then e-mail about a long size, which shouldn't be a problem. Anyone can do it.

Indeed I am, I've been at both of their throats for product designs that annoy me, or did you miss all of it? Why do you think I get prototypes, and not just from Rick.

Perhaps your lips were so firmly placed upon Rick's buttocks that your criticisms did not escape with enough velocity to reach Wisconsin.

    People People!

First of all, Anthony, looks like Aaron is doing OK...the game is still in progress, but GB is ahead.

Rick makes good stuff, and we're proud that he was willing to invest in making this product! Let's play nice! We would not be talking about Escrime if it were not a great product. If it were just another Allstar or PBT we would just let it go.

And I haven't noticed Anthony giving Alex oral gratification lately. Maybe I missed something. He's just a young curmudgeon. Inq jr. But he's from Wisconsin, so he gets a pass! *uck 'em up Bucky! (unless you're playing Maine in Hockey)

    I can only respond thusly:

    I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK
I sleep all night and I work all day
I cut down trees, I eat my lunch
    I go to the lavat'ry
    On Wednesdays I go shopping
And have buttered scones for tea
I cut down trees, I skip and jump
I love to press wild flow'rs
    I put on women's clothing
    And hang around in bars
I cut down trees, I wear high heels
    Suspenders and a bra
    I wish I'd been a girlie
    Just like my dear papar

Now, imagine Paul Bunyan singing it, while wearing a corset.

So, what was the original purpose of this thread?
