    So here's the question...

The real question is simple. Is the mask I reviewed so much better than any I've seen such that I WOULD pay for it?

    Consider the following:

    1) I've spent more than my fair share of money on masks. 4 masks in 6 years? That's quite alot.

    2) I truly believe the LP mask if I had to quantify it is oh.. 5 times better. I'll probably have this mask for at least 6 years. So by having this mask I'd actually SAVE money without having to change how I treat the mask or use it any differently.
If only I could get the software for my vidicam to work you'd see an a/b comparison of my masks. I cant get it to download.

Bottom line is yes. I would GLADLY pay for it if asked. I freely admit that I have been hypercritical of their: pricing; lack of availability; quality; and just about anything else I can think of. In response to the evidence they put in my hands I felt I had to change my mind as publicly as I had advanced my original, erroneous position.

PS: I never thought I'd say this but if LP needed booth help on the West Coast for NAC's or even just help at the LP USA booth at Nationals just let me know. I'll be there. Their equipment is THAT much better... that I'd actually give my time too.

    Well, only one prototype then.

He still has free gear and when he posted a review of your "lames and such" he was reviewing lames and uniforms that at the time were in his possession that he hadn't paid for.

If FF's opinions are invalid "infomercials" because he got given a test mask then Jay's are invalid too because he still has at least one free jacket and was using your stuff for free while reviewing it on this board.

You really can't have it both ways! Jay got freebies and posted reviews so did FF end of as far as I can see. You can huff and puff around the issue all you like but from all of teh previous posts it seems like that is fact.

Can I point at this juncture that that team EI started throwing stones first here. I am meerely trying to point out as others have that it is unwise to throw stones when one is living in a glass house.

Isn't it weird that we have two vendors bickering on another vendor's website?

    Seriously guys, chill out.

FWIW, if I had the money, I would definitely try one of the LP masks. I just hate that weird "cut below the neck" look, some of them have.

then talk to Triplette. They have good gear cheaper than you can buy elsewhere. If you are looking for 350 Newton only and price/fit are your main concerns then Triplette definitely.

Their 800 Newton Unis aren't bad by any means... just a bit yellow-tinged. They really should do something about that.

    1) I've recently seen a version of the current Triplette FIE stretch uniform (test sample as we're looking to make a large uniform order in the near future)and it actually has no issues with yellow coloration. The fabric is on par with the fabrics of all the nicest FIE uniforms currently out (LP Sydney, Absolute Sig., and EI [if the rumors are true and the fabric is as nice as their 350]). I'd actually wear it with no complaints. Maybe the yellowing comes later, but it's bright white now.

    2) This discussion has grown beyond ridiculous. FF is no more likely a schill than Jay. We've all heard FF shout his opinion from the rafters in almost thread he's ever bothered to post in. The only sure thing about him is that he's going to speak his mind w/o regard for whether he's wrong or right. It has nothing to do with recieving free samples and whether or not you return those samples. At best all that garners is good will to the manufacturer themselves (i.e. maybe FF will tell us the Pauls are great guys more so than before but we'd be foolish to think he's wearing a mask that he actually thinks is crap just b/c he got it for free). The rest of the discussion as far as FIE uniforms go is moot...EI's stuff isn't available for the average Joe yet so Jay and Rick (maybe Beloit?) are the only ones with any clue about the stuff.

    3) To the OP who needs a uniform, if you want a cheap but acceptable non-FIE uniform b/c you're growing a lot pretty go anywhere where you can get decent customer service. Fencing.net, Absolute, EI, LP-USA etc. They'll hook you up and help you out. Price and customer service are probably your premiums for this situation. The EI 350 is probably the nicest non FIE uniform I've seen to date, but if you're not planning to fit into for very long the extra money might not be worth it to you.
I now dangle to the left....my tassle. Get your minds out of the gutter.

Alas, unfortunately, no. Originally I was waiting for the FIE cert. to be finalized. Now I'm waiting for my employment situation to be finalized (cuz I'm only buying "necessities" like wires and points and blades until I have an income).

Edit: Anyone hiring in Northern New England??

I believe there is logic to the reasoning in your post. I know that I would not sing the praises of a free crappy mask. In my case, I would have simply ignored it or remained very generic in my description.
