Yes, you are right, those ( like "DJ" ) are acronyms, not abbreviations... Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Technically, they're not acronyms, they're initialisms -- unless they are pronounced as a word, not just by saying the letters. For example, "laser" and "scuba" are acronyms, but "IBM" and "FIE" are initialisms (unless you pronounce "FIE" like the word "fie", which I could understand.) -

Initialisms are evil enough they don't deserve to be correctly named, so I'll keep calling them acronyms. (That's my rationalization, and I'm sticking to it.) -
