    Arnold Fencing Classic, Columbus Ohio

Has anyone attended in the past and/or has information regarding this tournament? Sounds interesting.

I attended last year. It's held in the middle of the Arnold Sport Festival. The running was...alright last year but it was a little slow. There are demos from some high level fencers and even commentary for the finals(which are held on an elevated stage) Arnold himself usually shows up towards the end of the day and shakes everyone's hand. Sometimes it seems like a lot of pomp and circumstance for a medium sized tournaments. Last year it was an A1 in epee, B1 in foil and C1 in sabre. The youth events draw a lot of attention though.

It's currently listed as an FIE Satellite tournament.

If the designation holds up, then the top 8 will get a moderate amount of world points.

    Book a hotel NOW

The hotels in the area are heavily booked for the Arnold competition as there are several other sports events at the same time.

Please keep in mind that the woman who does almost all of the organizing for this event was in a serious accident before the tournament happened. Everyone else pitched in as much as possible, in order to make sure the event happened.

Actually, it was probably run much better then...she's a great person, great coach, but organizer -- not so much.

the whole 30 minute wait to find someone to operate the mask test was a bit much, regardless of what happened before the tournament
