Paralympic Update #2 Greetings:
Our training camp concluded this morning. The US Paralympic Fencing Team will depart the US Olympic Training Center at 1:30 AM and after departing from Denver at 6:00 AM we will change planes in San Francisco, then will arrive in Beijing Thursday afternoon. We will have daily training sessions and hopefully some time for some sight-seeing.
I saw another thread on wheelchair fencing. There are a large number of soldiers returning from Iraq with permanent physical disabilities. These people are prime candidates for wheelchair fencing programs, but there are so few clubs offering wheelchair fencing. There may even be some resouces availble for clubs that are serious about creating a program. If your club is interested in starting a wheelchair fencing program, here are some good resources: http://paralympics.teamusa.org/content/index/408 http://www.pva.org/site/PageServer http://www.spinalcord.org/news.php?dep=34&page=172 http://www.usfencing.org. -
