Welcome to the Fantasy Land Forum!

Before posting please familiarize yourself with the following guidelines. Also we ask that you adhere to our Term of Service (basically, don't post copyrighted stuff and be cool to others). Remember to use our Forum Search if you are looking for a particular thread or poster. Various members of the Fantasy Land community have compiled the following list of guidelines. If you are new here, you should find the guidelines helpful in getting started. Please remember that certain threads (a topic, such as this one) may have different rules than the ones stated here (any new stipulations should be included on the thread.

(1) Create a character you would like to play.

Work out a background story. There are assorted threads that list characters' bios and inventories, not unlike a roll call. You can use those threads as templates for characters that you are creating. Be realistic. The things you own or are able to do should be (Fantasy Universe) realistic, and preferably have been role-played into your possession.

(2) Read a few threads and find one that suits your character.

Be sure to read the whole thread, there might be quite a back-story for you to catch up on. If you enter into an established plot thread it's polite to ask the creator first. Speak to them Out Of Character (/ooc) and ask if you can join the thread.

(3) Once you’re in the thread, be respectful of other characters.

There's no GM (game master) here for you to appeal to, so please respect the other characters. Please ask the creators of the characters involved if you plan on taking another character away from an already developing plot. Don't control other player's characters without their permission. If you are in a battle, let your opponent decide if their character got hit and how. Your character only knows what he is told In Character (/IC) and should not bring information that you have learned Out Of Character.

(4) Be patient.

Sometimes it takes those involved awhile to post on these boards. Your online comrades can't be on all the time. Sometimes it may be a day or two before your post is replied to. This is normal.

(5) Be creative.

If you don't feel like participating in the 'universe' already established in the forum, feel free to start your own. This section of the board grew as an offshoot of the "Water Cooler" thread for the benefit of those who wanted to exercise their creative writing skills. This forum should not be limited to a single 'fantasy' universe. Have fun and let those days of reading comics as a kid come back to you.

(6) Keep it clean.

The message boards on Fencing.Net are populated by members and viewed by users of all ages. For that reason, please keep any content suitable to a 'PG' audience. Please refrain from any vulgar language or sexually suggestive content. (There is enough of that on the Internet already.) :-)

(7) Other notes

You'll notice threads being locked around 200 posts. This is done to prevent thread and board corruption. In most cases, the moderators will continue the thread with another post (with [Part N] included in the title). If a thread has reached 200 posts without a new thread started, feel free to start up the next part.

(8) Have fun!

There are very little restrictions on Players/Postings here. As long as you respect the other posters/characters, you will be fine. Have a ball and enjoy!
