Mizuno Shoes

I desperately need new fencing shoes. I had been considering the Nikes, but I can't wait to find out if/when they'll restock them. I was about to buy the Adidas Beijing Lightster on a teammate's recommendation, but while looking online for a good place to buy them, I found a badminton forum comparing them to mizuno volleyball shoes. A few people said that their mizunos (they didn't specify the model) were lighter and had thinner heels than the Lightster. However, they also sound like they are a bit less supportive. When I searched the f.net forums, I only found a couple of mentions of mizunos.

Has anyone tried them?

Wave Lightning 3

Wave Tornado

Wave Spike 9

Wave Spike 10

Wave Spike 11

And for comparison, here are the Lightsters.

Try to get a pair of Badminton Shoes

I believe Volleyball shoes are a bit bulky and the outsole is too thick for fencing, not the best for footwork. Try to get a pair of Badminton Shoes instead, personally I like the yonex ones:

The model I currently use is SHB-100 Limited, they fits really well. Good traction and protection. It is wider than regular addias fencign shoes (Designed for typical Asians who usually have wider feet) If you have wide feet, these are the shoes you should consider.

I generally feel the same way, which is why I never considered bigger ones like the stabils. But apparently there are mizunos that have an even lower profile than the Lightster badminton shoe. Those look pretty slim and grippy, though, so I'll add them to my list.

My feet are kind of weird -- my forefoot is pretty average in width, maybe a bit wide, and my heels are fairly narrow. It makes finding dress shoes a pain. I also have really flat feet and sort of messed-up knees, so I'm trying to find decent support/cushioning without a lot of bulk.

I wear orthotics as I have serious flat feet. I also have a pair of those in my yonex. IF you really have a problem with your feet, I think you might also consider my method, or at lease get a pair of good insole in your fencing shoes. They really helps me to develop better footwork. Also, if you fence epee, you might never want shoes too long as you might an extra 1/2 inch for oppoent's toe touch. You might try something like this offered by LP:
