SoCal club question

A friend of ours attends one of the Claremont Colleges and is looking for training opportunites. He's an "A" rated foilist, and dabbles in epee. Any suggestions for a good coach and club nearby?

Thanks

Fortune Fencing's probably the closest...and there will be some tournaments at Claremont this year.

Most of the foil clubs are toward the middle or west side of LA. Fortune is excellent for epee, I'm not sure of the foil.

Foildad, can you send me a PM and I can let you know what the other options are for foil.

IMHO

top 5 foil coaches in LA area :

Sergey Vashkevich LAIFC

Sergey Vashkevich LAIFC

Sergey Vashkevich LAIFC

Boris Kushnir BHFC

Misha Itkin LAIFC

Al Carter wouldda been there - but he moved,
Derek Cotton as well, but methinks he is on coaching hiatus right now.
I don't think Derek Snyder is coaching actively either,
Saul Mendoza in San Diego is probably too far.

Oooo....that's right...I always forget about the LASD guys...aren't they in San Dimas? That's close to Claremont.

I sent you a PM. I watched Chris fence into the 8 at D1A. He was great. Congratulations.

Is Sergey Vashkevich the former Ukranian junior team member? In any event, LAIFC is too far.

Boris is a bro'. I shared a cab w/ him once and oh, the stories he could tell.

Derek Cotton would be a great coach for this kid; he has been trained by one of Derek's former students. Is he not around??

Thanks. That might be the most realistic option.

Thanks everyone,

Bruce

1.Correct
2.Last I heard he was giving lessons somewhere in Pasadena; whoever knows him can shed more light.

Last I saw him, which was about a year and half ago - he said that he left Fortune, and is giving private lessons somewhere in Pasadena.
I'm sure one can find him through FOC.
